Kur’ân Öncesi Cahiliye Toplumunun Melek İnancı

Qur’an has built a new belief and thought system by interfering with some of the ideas of the interlocuter/receiving mass in the period it was revealed. According to this, pre-Islamic period Arab society having a characteristic structure and the belief system of the interlocuter mass during the revelation period of the Qur’an is important for a better understanding of the divine message. In this context, the knowledge of the meaning of angel in pre-Islamic Arabic society will contribute to a better understanding of the criticisms Qur’an directs them in the context of shirk and blasphemy. This study primarily looks into the concept of jahiliyyah and how it is used in the Qur’an and then will try to determine the belief system of jahiliyyah society and the perception of angel in the pre-Islamic Arab society.

Kur’ân-ı Kerîm, indiği dönemdeki muhatap kitlenin bazı düşüncelerine müdahale ederek yeni bir inanç ve düşünce sistemi inşâ etmiştir. Buna göre, Kur’ân öncesi Arap toplumunun kendine özgü karakteristik bir yapıya sahip olması ve Kur’ân’ın inzal sürecindeki ilk muhatap toplumunun inanç yapısı, mesajının daha iyi anlaşılması bağlamında önem arz etmektedir. Bu anlamda vahiy öncesi Arap toplumundaki melek tasavvurunun bilinmesi, Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’in şirk ve küfür konusunda muhataplarına yönelttiği tenkitlerin daha iyi anlaşılmasına katkı sağlayacaktır. Bu çalışmada öncelikle cahiliye kavramı ve Kur’ân’da geçme şekli kısaca ele alınacak, ardından cahiliye toplumunun inanç sistemi ve Kur’ân öncesi Arap toplumunun sahip olduğu melek algısı tespit edilmeye çalışılacaktır.
